Boiling water
2 bags microwave popcorn, popped
1 cup dark brown sugar
1 cup Balcones 100 Proof Straight Corn Whisky
Unsalted butter
- To make popcorn syrup, add sugar and 1 bag of popcorn to 1 cup of boiling water. Allow to infuse for at least 2 hours. The popcorn will absorb all the liquid. Then, add 1 cup boiling water, stir thoroughly, and strain through a fine sieve or cheesecloth. Add sugar if necessary, to produce a rich, kettle corn-flavored syrup.
- To make popcorn whisky, add 1 bag of popcorn to whisky. Allow to infuse for at least 2 hours. Popcorn will not absorb much liquid. Strain through a fine sieve or cheesecloth.
- To make the drink, combine in a mug ½ cup boiling water with ¼ cup popcorn syrup and ¼ cup popcorn whiskey. Top with a small pat of unsalted butter.
